The draconian order by the Supervising Minister of Education, Nyesom Wike asking students and lecturers to resume school without ASUU acknowledgement has claimed the life of a female student, Elohor on the death trap East West road while on her way from Ughelli where she had gone to see her family. A source who confided in us stated that she was a student of the Delta State University and a 300 level Microbiology student.
The budding female student and activist we gathered was contesting for the Student Union Government (SUG) Presidential position in the school before the tragic incident took place. She was going back to school as ordered by her school management who asked that all students should resume on 9th December.
She was still on her way when the vehicle she entered had an accident in failed portions of the East West road which the Minister of Niger Delta has been unable to complete after four years of being under construction.
The SUG presidential aspirant reportedly died and her body was taken to the Ughelli Cental Hospital, Delta State. Her dead body was taken to her home town, Aghalokpe in Okpe Local Government Area of Delta State where she has been laid to rest.
The ongoing strike has also claimed Prof. Iyayi, former ASUU Chairman, who ironically is also being buried today.
