EXCLUSIVE: SENATOR UCHE EKWUNIFE TO DEFECT TO APC AHEAD OF ANAMBRA NOVEMBER 16 ELECTION

Secret Reporters

As the crisis rocking the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Nigeria deepens, many of its members, especially MPs and political heavyweights from the Anambra block are beginning to realign ahead of the November 16 gubernatorial election with the latest possible addition to the list of those set to abandon ship, the Anambra state PDP campaign DG, Senator Uche Ekwunife.

This move SecretReporters learned may not be far-fetched from the power tussle witnessed in the build-up to the party primaries in the state which produced Valentine Ozigbo as the PDP flag bearer with Ekwunife feeling betrayed after campaigning for months under an alleged false impression that Dr. Ezeife, an elder statesman, had endorsed her gubernatorial candidacy.

Political pundits in the state, however, see this as no news since the Anaocha born Senator revered as one of the most active female senators in the house over time became synonymous with cross-carpet politics.

Findings show that on January 8, 2016, Senator Uche Ekwunife representing Anambra Central Senatorial District who had her election annulled by an Appeal Court on December 6, 2015, joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) on which platform she contested and won the Anambra central senatorial district election. Two years later, in 2018, she was back to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party.

The Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege, who orchestrated the defection of Senator Peter Nwaoboshi of Delta State PDP and Senator Stella Oduah of Anambra PDP is also responsible for bringing Ekwunife to the ruling party, credible sources confided in SecretReporters.
