Breaking public rules and regulations is gradually becoming a norm among Nigerian Public office holders, especially those in power.
The Bauchi State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) has again, broken the Bauchi State Public Procurement Law, confirming the allegation of criminal practice of breaking rules and regulations by Public office holders in Nigeria.
Data have shown that the Bauchi State SUBEB, under Dr. Abubakar Surumbai Sheikh Dahiru, awarded contracts up to the sum of N29, 914,760.75, to companies not registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission.
An investigation by SecretReporters revealed that SUBEB awarded a contract to REINFORCE BRICK NIG. LTD worth N12, 745,540 for the construction of 1/3 classroom with office and store on 19th May, 2020. The project lasted for six months.
Also, SHATTIMA INTERGRATED CONCEPT LTD received a contract worth N11, 406,625.75 for the construction of 1/3 classroom with office and store on July 23, 2020. The project also lasted for Six months.
Furthermore, a contract worth N1, 110,800 was awarded to KAKAN LERE ENTERPRISES for the supply of pupils’ furniture on the 19th of October 2020. The contract lasted for Six months.
Lastly, DANINA SYNERGY LTD received a contract worth N4, 651,795 on the 19th October 2020, for renovation of a 1/2half classroom block with an office and store. The project lasted for Six months.
The Violations:
The Bauchi State Public Procurement Law stipulates that, to qualify for state government contracts, a contractor must provide a certificate of incorporation with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).
Investigations by SecretReporters, show that the above-listed companies, are not registered on CAC.
