FRIGHTFUL FIGHTERS: DELTA STATE FIRE SEERVICE DEPARTMENT EXTORTS MONEY FROM WARRI RESIDENTS THROUGH DOUBLE AGENTS

Secret Reporters

Information reaching our news desk has revealed that ever since Shell Petroleum Company pulled out of Delta State, there have been no visible firefighting Service in Warri the state capital, and Delta State at large with a group of rascals claiming to be FireFighters now terrorizing residents of Warri.

The so called government Fire Fightless Service, now engages their personnel in molesting, embarrassing and intimidating the good people of Warri to the point of using police officers to forcefully arrest anyone who refuse to pay the fire service levy of five thousand Naira (N5,000), a fee which they claim is for fire services which they have stopped rendering in the state.

Secret Reporters also gathered that the most dreadful part of this wicked act is that not only are residents forced to part with their hard earned money for a service they do not enjoy but they are also coerced to pay twice to the Fire Service department through their dubious personnel. One of the affected residents who spoke with our reporter lamented that “If you pay today to a particular group who claim to be fire fighters, the next day, another group of persons will come with the same levy containing different signatures and phone numbers from a different authority within the agency, and the same threat pattern claiming that they are the real firefighting personnel mandated to collect the levy”.

He also disclosed that the second set, who claimed to be the real fire fighters, told them that they have paid to the wrong agents and it is none of their business or concerns, maintaining that they must pay again.

The people of Warri who have overtime expressed their displeasure over this incessant extortion have called on the Governor of Delta State, Dr. Ifianyi Okowa, the chairman of Warri-South Local Government, their House of Assembly member, all other relevant authorities, sagacious citizens, people of Warri and Delta State at large to please come to their aid, to avoid further harassment or confrontation between the government agencies and law abiding citizens of Delta State
