While men get the very best to raise skyscrapers to heaven, ensuring years of experience over political choices, Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr Umo Eno, like a new recruit in the Nigerian Police Force, handed over what will be the most gigantic structure the state has ever built, to a novice in the building industry, a real consultant not a developer.
After so much thinking and brainstorming, Umo Eno shopped for a company known as WL Construction Limited to undertake the construction of the 21-Storey Ibom Tower located in Lagos State. This company according to findings by SecretsReporter was floated on 11th July 2023 with RC number 7049575. It has as its directors Adedigba Temitope Morayo with 50% ownership and Gboyea Fatimelehin with the other 50%.
Adedigba has no public search records that shows his competence personally or company experience in the construction industry. 70 years old Gboyega who is his partner has only been a consultant in the real estate industry and never built public property or ever undertaken such gigantic structure like the one Gov. Eno handed over to them on a platter of gold.
“Developers are the risk-takers who undertake construction projects, while consultants like us provide advice and guidance to clients.
As consultants, we work with individuals who want to build houses or engage in real estate transactions. We guide them on what they need to succeed in their endeavors. Real estate practice requires organization and substantial knowledge about the industry. Without proper understanding, it becomes difficult to deliver value to clients”, the co-owner of the company, Gboyega Fatimilehin confessed in an interview with the Punch Newspaper on 12th January 2025.
This 21-storey building that a one-year-old company will be building will cost Akwa Ibom State N38 billion according to an insider source, in a state where all the industries opened by the immediate past governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel have all shut down.
In the 2025 budget, the sum of N8 billion has been allocated to kickstart the project.
Mr Umo Eno is known to embark on projects that do not directly affect those he governs but for the elites. Despite living in the barracks as the son a poor policeman. He had earlier introduced a drinking culture to the state which he called “happy hour”, where residents should go out on Fridays to have fun
