For getting him the position of the Managing Director of the juicy Delta State Oil Producing Area Community (DESOPADEC), Williams Makinde has began his payback to imprisoned former Delta State governor, Onanefe James Ibori.
In a board meeting held on 21st of October 2015 which was monitored by our sources within the commission, Makinde in one fell swoop decided to reward the man who made sure Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa made him the MD by doling out a whooping N350 million to Daily Independent Newspaper, owned by his benefactor, Secrets Reporters can report.
According to our sources, the money was meant for very flimsy reason for adverts, which will cost less than N50 million in one year, and that is being magnanimous, stated the source. The N350 million we gathered is for a period of three years, after which subsequent years will be penned at same N350 million per annum.
The sum of N100 million has already being released to the management of Daily Independent Newspaper. This action of the MD, who is obvious he’s in the commission to loot, did not get the full approval of the Executive Director (finance), Bashorun Askia Ogieh, since Okowa was not aware of this reckless financial spending. This action is coming less than two months after they were sworn in on August 28th 2015 at the Government House, Asaba.
The newspaper have been out of prints for weeks, following financial crisis that hit it, caused by bad management policy and lack of editorial skills to run it.
Calls placed to Makinde were not answered; neither did he reply a text message sent to his mobile line.
In the first place, it is not Ibori that recommended Olorogun Williams Makinde for Okowa, it was his own outstanding pedigree coupled with his high sense of responsibility and financial prudence and management that endeared him to the governor. This was manifested when the Chief held sway as the PDP national Treasurer. If 350Million was approved by the Board of the Commission for adverts and other expenses, they, the board must have considered it the best option and at the rock bottom price. We all know that a single advert in Vanguard costs about N500,000 or more per day. I will advice this Junk journalist who probably has been paid or and seeking some level of relevance to crosscheck his facts before coming into public domain to rant.
Gone are the days when you just come out to publish nonsense and people key into it. This is the work of a job less man. Please DESOPADEC is performing well and we know Mankinde and his team will make Okowa and Deltans proud
