Corporate Thief: How Former Minister of Power, Abubakar D. Aliyu Pocketed Over Millions To His Company in Contract Scam

As former Ministers of the Federal Republic of Nigeria continue to make the news over corruption-related cases, documents have revealed how former Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Abubakar D. Aliyu, was involved in contract racketeering to the sum of ₦71,259,972.19 thereby violating the Code of Conduct Bureau and Tribunal (CCBT) Act for Public Officers in the country.

The CCBT Act prevents a government official from owning or running a private company while being employed as a full staff. However, such laws do not apply if the company or business is in the farming sector.

It was discovered that on November 10, 2021, the Federal Medical Centre, Gusau Zamfara, made the payment of ₦57,391,800.00 to Inex Cleaners Ltd for 2019 part of outsourcing liabilities for internal & external cleaning services.

It was also revealed that on October 24, 2021, the Federal Teaching Hospital, Gombe made the payment of ₦7,663,721.46 to Inex Cleaners Ltd for outstanding outsourcing services for February 2021.

Finally, the document shows that on November 8, 2022, the Federal Teaching Hospital, Gombe made a payment of ₦6,204,450.73 to Inex Cleaners Ltd for the cleaning services outsourced for personnel sept. 2020.

SecretsReporters discovered that the company, INEX CLEANERS LTD was registered in GOMBE, Nigeria with Registration Number 438609. It was registered on 20th December 2001. The company is located in Gombe State

Among the key management personnel of INEX CLEANERS LTD, is Abubakar D. Aliyu, a former Minister of Power under the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari. He also served as the Minister of State for Works and Housing.
