The newly posted Commissioner of Police to Delta State, Mr Haruna Huzi Mshelia may have started on a bad note, by making himself available to be used as a tool by politicians from the State.
One of his first assignments is a clampdown on activists in the State with the client being the lawmaker representing Ethiope East in the State House of Assembly, Mr Evance Iwurie.
The lawmaker who’s known to be a patent liar and braggart according to sources is pissed that one of the state foremost activist, Comrade Akima Onos had the guts to challenge him to come back to the local government to give constituency briefing as the norm in legislative business.
Evance we gathered was angry and decided to use some of his social media poor writers to post unfounded information on Akima, who responded by making public his demand on accountability. He further exposed Evance attempt at blackmailing him with money when they met, an act he refused to fall for.
Using his influence as a lawmaker, he approached the State former CP, Ibrahim Zanna, to arrest Akima and charge to court, which was done.
There was however a twist on Wednesday, when the activist went for the court hearing in Obiaruku, and Evance on tip of by one Taiga decided to send policemen from the State CID to re-arrest Akima and whisked away to the Headquarter.
Secret Reporters police sources confided in us that the ACP in charge of the State CID categorically told the Investigating Police Officer in charge of the case to “make sure a good prosecutor is gotten to secure a remand for Akima. Honorable wants him in Ogwashi-Ukwu prison by Thursday. This action we gathered is in conjunction with the CP.
Akima is currently under custody in Asaba, where the CP has directed the ACP to quickly take him to an unknown court tomorrow, before his lawyers will arrive to make case for his release.
