ABIA STATE SSG IMPLICATED IN 52MILLION NAIRA CONTRACT FRAUD

Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu’s government is already gathering very bad image based on fraud issues linking top government functionaries in his government. AFN just gathered that the current Abia State SSG Dr. Eme Okoro who poses to be transparent is very far from it considering the revelation at hand .

Before now there has been news of his overt meddlesome into financial transactions and requests for kickbacks from contractors by the SSG, but this revelation completely broke the camels back.

The latest revelation is his alleged involvement in the diversion of state fund meant for the renovation and upgrade of Women Development Center to South East Entrepreneurial Development Center, a contract that was awarded to one Phrenemos Intl Ltd at a cost of N52m.

The SSG who was instructed by Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu to oversee the job instructed the MD of Phrenemos Intl Ltd to open a UBA account with one Glory Emucha in the pretense that UBA is the Bank Abia State government is dealing with, not knowing the reason is for easy access into his account .

After weeks, the MD of Phrenemos Intl Ltd approached UBA to know the status of his account and discovered the unbelievable.

He discovered that 2 million Naira was paid into his account but was also withdrawn without his knowledge or consent, meanwhile he has been spending his private funds facilitating the project.

He also discovered that a financial project report was sent to the governor detailing that above N15million that was released has been used in the project.

This simply means that government actually released above N15m for the project and N2m was paid into his account which was withdrawn without his consent and the remaining diverted.

AFN gathered that the SSG and one Mr. Nnabu Evuka were able to perpetrate this fraud in connivance with Glory Emucha who happens to be a staff of UBA and the account officer to Phrenemos.

The said Glory Emucha, released the Cheque book of the company, disabled the alert system, and went ahead to assist them in withdrawing money from the company account without the consent of the contractor.

Today, the project is uncompleted and these same people have painted a picture that the renovation has been completed .

It is important Gov Okezie Ikpeazu looks into this matter and discharge justice.

AFN gathered that DSS has already made some arrest in connection with the fraudulent engagement .
