Delta State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) bigwig, Chief Sunny Onuesoke has commended the action of Delta State Governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa on the passage of two Bills to Delta State House of Assembly few days after resuming office, describing his action as someone who has plan for the well being of the people of Delta State.
Just few days after resume office, Okowa has two bills to Delta State House of Assembly which include a bill for a law to establish “’Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency” and a bill for a law to establish “Delta State Technical and Vocational Education Board”.
Speaking to newsmen in Warri, Delta State, Onuesoke argued that Okowa action to kick start work while others are still celebrating their inauguration is keeping with the promise he made minutes after his inauguration on his urge to create better life for the people.
“ His action also signify that Delta State has got a governor that is hungry to work and develop the well being of the people of the state,” Onuesoke noted.
According to him, the two bills he forwarded to the House of Assembly for ascension are in the right direction to attract development to the state and also produce human skills for self employment thereby reducing the rate of unemployment among the youths.
“The Bill on Delta State Capital Development Territory which is likely to take the template of Federal Capital Territory will be the first of his kind among Nigerian states. I see it as a bill that will create massive development for the state capital. This will attract people from all walks of life to invest in the state capital. Such investment will attract economical boom and create employment and other social development that will make Delta State centre of attraction,” he noted.
Onuesoke observed that the Delta State Technical and Vocational Educational Board bill if implemented would focus on the training and development of skilled manpower of which the end result would be the creation of self employed manpower.
“This will be a deviation from our academic system which specialize on training youths who depend on white caller jobs which are nowhere to be found,” Onuesoke noted, adding that if implemented it will reduce crime and other vices in the state hence the youths will be self employed or may have ready market for employee in need of skilled workers.” He said.
