The head of IT infrastructure at the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), Fatai Oseni, has violated the Code of Conduct Bureau for public office holders in the country as data have revealed how he was complicit in contract racketeering.
The Code of Conduct Bureau for public office holders forbids a civil servant or public servant from participating in or running a company’s management in the country. However, the law allows public officeholders or civil servants to participate in farming.
Fatai Oseni, in 2001, was a software developer with the Petroleum Equalisation Fund Management Board (PEFMB). In 2010 he became head of IT technical development with PEFMB and later became head of IT infrastructure in 2016.
In 2021 he became the head of IT infrastructure at the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) and has remained there until now.
SecretReporters, while perusing the Nigerian Open Contracting Portal (NOCOPO), discovered that Fatai Oseni, whom the Federal Republic of Nigerian fully employed was running and managing a company with which he used to secure a contract worth N40,070,000.01.

It was discovered that the contract was awarded by the Federal Institute of Industrial Research – Oshodi, for the fabrication, supply, and installation of Garri frying and packaging machine in 2017 to Fatoroy Steel Industry Limited.
The company, Fatoroy Steel Industry Limited, has two primary key management staff, Fatai Oseni and Oseni Bisiriyu. The company registered in the year 2001, was incorporated in Ibadan with registration number 409103.
The contract has since been completed according to the information disclosed at the NOCOPO portal.
