Secret Reporters
The emergence of Muhammadu Buhari as Nigeria President may come to many as a shock, including himself, but classified information revealed to Secret Reporters since 2015 which we have studied for over a year, even before the ministers were appointed has proved that it was a well orchestrated plot by Nigeria’s seven wise men.
The plot
Some two years ago in 2014, barely a year after the All Progressive Congress (APC) was formed, former Lagos State Governor, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Nigeria’s super power broker, invited six other juggernauts for a weekend retreat to plan the takeover of power from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), PDP gradual destruction and plans of moving forward, the fortunes of Nigeria, the APC & their pockets.
His Bourdillon abode was totally sealed off from that Friday 6pm to Sunday 6pm. No single visitor was allowed near the arena neither was any phone call allowed, even among themselves.
Only Senator (Mrs) Oluremi Tinubu who is Tinubu’s wife, some key trusted domestic staff and heavy security personnel were allowed. Gates were locked & sealed.
The Seven men at the meeting were Bola Tinubu (the host), Babatunde Raji Fashola who was Lagos State governor at that time, Kayode Fayemi, Chris Ngige, Rochas Okorocha, Rotimi Ameachi and Adams Oshiomhole. It was strictly a Southern Nigeria affair -Southwest, Southeast & South South. Certainly no North!
Who will be the President?
The first item on the agenda was’ who shall be the President? All fingers were pointed at Tinubu. But Mrs Senator quickly reiterated: “how can my husband be President & me, the Senate President?” A seed of discord was sown and she was calmly and politely excused from the meeting. Her point was worth looking into later. Who would vote for Tinubu apart from the Yorubas? Olusegun Obasanjo, a Yoruba, ruled for 8 years and the rotational PDP Northern/OBJ installed president, Musa Yaradua was effectively there for only about a year. Then a Southerner in the person of President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan (GEJ) was in power. Will the North vote for another Yoruba if Igbo is certainly as it is, out of the way as long as the North is concern?
With Yoruba, Igbo and the current GEJ South-south out of the race, it was left for the North. Tinubu was not satisfied. However only three names from the North were worthy: Muhammadu Buhari, Atiku Abubakar and Gov. Rabiu Kwankwaso of Kano. Analysis were weighed and options thrown open. Atiku would not be trusted by Nigerians; not even by the Yorubas, the people of his wife. Kwankwaso, a former defense minister, was popular in Kano, the army & the North but was relatively unknown in the South. He cannot win! Buhari, a general & a former Head of State, has a name, integrity, three-time presidential campaign experience and infrastructures. So Buhari was it.
But what excited them most especially Tinubu, was that Buhari was an old man of 72 and sick. History will repeat itself as in Yar’Adua’s case. And Tinubu or his protege can be the Vice President. The three Northerners must be invited to partake in the primary but Buhari was it. Other partakers must include an Igbo & one or two other mix-grill. It must be Buhari! And he must die one way or the other in office & the VP (Tinubu or his nominee) will take over. Now, how will the campaign be funded?
How the plot was funded
The seven men were billionaires; one or two made their first money on their own right before they looted more from the state treasury. But they wanted the Northern cash and contacts to be drawn in. Theophilus Danjuma, a Christian amd the nation’s oldest billionaire is a colleague as well as a friend of Buhari that can always be counted on.
Rabiu, the unknown Kano multi-billionaire is a reliable ally of the Northern cause. And a younger dissident came into view: Central Bank of Nigeria Gov. Sanusi Lamido, the unsung multi-billionaire who had the only key to the nation’s vault. And El-Rufai, his soulmate at Kings College, Lagos would be a secret partner.
Labaran Maku was to be pulled in because of his allegiance to the Igbos, having been Iwuayanwu’s boy in ages past at Champion Newspapers but he had a strong loyalty to GEJ. So the seven men pulled their resources together and with Lamido and Co. matching each Naira by Naira, a formidable war chest of gold was set aside to fight PDP. And this was just the beginning of the battle
Who gets what when victory is achieved?
Next were the zoning of the juicy portfolio: Senate President was zoned to Mrs Tinubu if Bola Tinubu is not the VP. The seat is reserved for Tinubu ‘family’. At Aso Rock, Secretary to the Government of the Federation was kept for Ameachi, Fashola who built up Lagos would handle the Works, Comrade Gov. Oshiomhole would combine Petroleum with Labor since NLC is his constituency. Although Buhari may have his own mind once he gets there, he must be prevailed upon.
Some of the last main issues were the security forces, INEC, the Courts & the propaganda machinery to ensure the federal & state majority leadership. Attention must be focused on the Oil producing states which must be wrestled from the PDP stronghold. Then the plan to scatter and silence the PDP. The only man fit for such plot is the man who already has Buhari’s ear as an Inlaw and a secret political ally right from their days of defunct All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) was Ali Mod Sherriff and was quickly deployed to defect back to the party to destroy it. All went according to the script. Then Buhari emerged. Of course he had his agenda which must be acted
Keeping hope alive
Buhari who has survived his one year in office is still under the radar. The Seven Wise Men are still hoping on their hope. Democracy Day, their ‘Ides of March’ came and passed away without any natural occurrence.
The plot is not over as they hope in history that MUST always repeat itself; albeit not always in same sequence. The President who is not so strong they hope dies (whichever way, which includes possible assassination), is carried in a mat aboard Airforce One to his hometown up north. He’s buried within 24 hours without ceremony and his negotiated or imposed Deputy (the Vice), a Yoruba takes over. An Ibo man, Okorocha whose father is ACTUALLY a northerner, becomes the Vice.
The Patron of the party, the kingmaker (who has now relocated to a serene kingdom outside Lagos or planning to), becomes a ruler in proxy while his wife, now a low-profile Senator becomes the Senate President & the Comrade Governor assumes the Petroleum Ministry already reserved for him at the beginning. With the Kano ex-Governor Alh. Kwankwaso, a former Defence Minister as SGF, it is hoped the North will be assuaged.
