The Kogi State House of Assembly passed 2017 Budget,but without the usual bribe to members of Kogi State House of Assembly, led by Speaker Ahmed Umar Imam and Hon Mathew Kolawole, the majority leader.
A reliable source revealed that Governor Yahaya Bello approved the sum of N48 million, that’s Two Million Naira for each member for the easy passage of a Budget adjudged by all standards to be full of corruption and inconsistency.
The approved N 48 million which our source said was moved to Governor Bello Chief of Staff Office,Mr Edward Onoja. .
Mr Onoja our source continued, was said to have deducted One Hundred Thousand Naira each,leaving the Hungry Assembly members with N1.9million .
The money which was wrapped in Central Bank wrapper was moved to REVARTON HOTEL,in Lokoja at exactly 11.45pm Monday evening in Ghana Must Go bags by some thugs suspected to be working with the office of Chief of Staff to the Governor
With the height of insecurity in the state, one of the Security guard at the reception insisted that he must check the bags,which the thugs in company of the Majority Leader and Member representing Kabba/ Bunu Constituency and a known Governor Yahaya Bello errand boy, Hon Mathew Kolawole harassed the security guard threatened to deal with him if he insisted in checking the content in the Ghana must Go.
Both the security guard and the receptionist have no options fearing their lives allowed them to pass.
With the Kogi State civil servants and pensioners walloping in agony and dying on daily, members led by the Speaker, Hon Ahmed Umar Imam went away with over N48 million tax payers money, just to pass a budget full of discrepancies.
