This may not be the best times for credibility and fair play, as the Cross River State Governor, Mr.Ben Ayade has conspired with the state Chief Judge and Chairman, Cross River Judicial Service Commission, Justice Okoi Ikpi Itam to stall the murder case.
Our findings reveal that, with the approval of the Governor, all Judges in the state were redeployed to other courts, except Justice Ogbojo Ogar, who has been retained in court 4 with a standing instruction to deliver a judgment in favour of the dismissed policemen which our investigation reveals also hail from the same ”ätam” ethnic group with the Governor.
Further findings show that, Justice Ogbojo Ogar who has been hearing the case on the influence of his colleague, Justice Ashwu Ewa, has been on the fore front of compromise due to undue pressure, even when the evidence stares him at the face.
The Cross River state Judiciary has been one sided, with a particular ethnic group dominating the Judiciary, thereby stalling cases that involves their people. Alleged sources.
Investigations reveal that, Governor Ben Ayade, the State Chief Judge, the Attorney General, the State Counsel Prosecuting, Presiding Judge, State Director of Public Prosecution(DPP) are all from Atam, making it difficult for their brothers to face trial.
Findings also shows that, the State Attorney seems to be neutral, but the influence of the Governor on the State Chief Judge has been a bad influence on the State Judiciary, which has been known for the highest bidder, sources said.
