BATTLE LINE: IMO GOV. HOPE UZODINMMA SWEARS TO DEAL WITH CRITICS WHO WRITES AGAINST HIS REGIME

Coming into power after a controversial supreme court judgment which witnessed public backlash from some Imolites, especially those from the opposition camp of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the State, Senator Hope Uzodimma no longer able to stomach criticisms has vowed to clamp down on social media critics in the state.

In a Press Statement, Mr Oguwike Nwachukwu, Chief Press Secretary and Media Adviser to the State Governor disclosed that the governor will no longer tolerate nonsense from social media critics whom he described as lousy irritants ignorant of the implication of their actions.

“No doubt, Imo State Governor appreciates the gains derivable from utilisation of the social media platforms for positive purposes. However, he will not under any circumstances condone deliberate ploy by persons who see the social media as a tool to malign his person and Office.” Mr Oguwike said.

The battle line SecretReporters learned is not far-fetched from the bad blood between the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state with a social media activist, Ambrose Nwogwugwu, fingered by the Uzodimma’s government as one leading the frontline in the social media attacks.

According to the CPS, Mr Ambrose Nwogwugwu who claims to be the New Media Director of the People’s Democratic Party in Imo State took it upon himself to denigrate the person of Senator Hope Uzodimma on Facebook on matters he knows are blatant lies and for which he cannot substantiate if called upon to do so.

One of such posts via Facebook on Thursday, April 11, 2020, we learned alleged that Governor Uzodimma smuggled three Chinese doctors into Owerri via the Imo Airport before they were driven to the house of Barr. Nnamdi Anyaehie, the Governor’s Chief of Staff.

The state governor through the CPS further stated that the PDP’s New Media Director needs be told how hugely he is damaging his youthful age and energy by deferring to things that will haunt him throughout his life journey except he does a quick detour as his employers have set him on a suicide mission without his knowledge.

It is yet unknown what actions the governor plan to take against his social media critics especially from the opposition party as the CPS further disclosed that Governor Uzodimma will not shy away from allowing the alleged PDP New Media Director to defend his posts on Facebook as they concern him and his Office while praying that he will not see that as abuse of his human right.
