POLITICAL MECCA: HOW CABALS IN DELTA STATE ALLEGEDLY PICKED NEXT PDP STATE CHAIRMAN WITH CONGRESS STILL MONTHS AWAY

Quintessentially speaking, democracy is said to be the government of the people, by the people and for the people. However, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), especially in Delta State, seem to have twisted this to mean government by selection, agreement and imposition without regards for the choice of the people and competence.

Information made available to SecretReporters reveals that while many in 2015 were made to believe that Chief Barr. Kingsley Esiso’s chairmanship of the party in Delta State was brought about through a  transparent electioneering process portraying the will of the people, the reverse is the case as his emergence was in fulfilment of the grand plot from the supposed ‘political Mecca’ of the state.

This is evident in a letter written by the Sapele Indigenous PDP Youth Ambassadors and addressed to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa urging him to honour the agreement made by the party cabals spearheaded by the erstwhile Governor of the state Chief James Ibori in zoning the state chairmanship position to Sapele local government area.

The letter which was signed by various representatives of the party in Sapele local government area revealed that the election of Barr. Kingsley Esiso in 2015 was an error as the state’s party chairman was supposed to be an indigene from Sapele as decided by Chief James O. Ibori who has allegedly positioned himself as the determinant of who becomes what in the state.

“We have been reliably informed that the position of the state chairman have been rezoned to Sapele in the forthcoming State’s congress…This was agreed in a meeting held on the19th of March 2020 at our leader’s residence H.E Chief James Onanefe Ibori”, the letter reads.

According to sources, James Ibori has thrown his weight behind Ejaife Odebala to emerge as the next PDP State Chairman.

Without any regard for competence and respect for the will of the people, the coalition further revealed that the outcome of the election held at the party’s 2015 congress was tilted to favour Barr. Esiso who emerged as the chairman of the party.

A source who spoke to our reporter lamented that “…the congress is some months away from now and who will be chairman has already been decided by some people who call themselves the cabals. Party members across the state are preparing to come and vote not knowing that everything has already been decided. It simply means the election will not be transparent, it has already been rigged, no need, let’s just stay in our houses”.

Many believe that with the candidate for the state chairmanship position already decided by the cabals the forthcoming congress may just be a sham as the votes of party faithful will doubtless be rigged to favour the choice of the cabals.
