The Nigerian Constitution (1999 as amended) clearly states the procedures for transfer of power. But this provision has been clearly violated by the Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, multiple sources revealed to SecretReporters.
We gathered that Mr Yahaya Bello, has left the state on a medical trip but refused to hand over power to his deputy, who’s unknown in Kogi political circle, and handed over the affairs of the state to his Man Friday and trusted ally, Mr Edward Onojia, his Chief of Staff.
To further highlight his disregard for the rule of law, the State House of Assembly we gathered was not been intimated of the governor’s absence through a medical trip, as no letter has been written by the governor to that effect. It remains to be seen what action the House of Assembly would take against the governor on his return.
Governor Yahaya Bello was last month involved in an accident and has been moving around with clutches but has since come to Nigeria.
Calls placed to the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, were not answered as at press time.
