With less than three months to the governorship primary of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo state, the political battle seems to be taking a different direction as the impeachment rumour on the number two citizen of the state gets ticker by the minutes with no official denial from the Governor’s henchmen, Spokesmen or the state Commissioner of Information.

Investigations reveal that the development follows the decision of the deputy governor of the state, Hon. Alfred Agboola Ajayi, to opt-out of the 2020 governorship race alongside Akeredolu. Agboola we leaned is currently being witch-hunted for backstabbing his principle on one of his political visits to the APC kingmakers where he was supposed to play the role of a peace-making emissary but rather seized the opportunity to market himself as a potential replacement for his governor in a build-up to the October 10 governorship election in the state.

With the incumbent poised at clinching the party ticket of the ruling All Progressive Congress, it is widely speculated that the Deputy Governor may pull off a political stunt as he has the financial muscle to buy the ticket of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party coupled with the alleged support of eleven serving members of the state assembly lawmakers from the ruling APC plus two lawmakers of the opposition PDP with a handful of local government chairmen under the government of Akeredolu in his support.

According to sources, the recent unexplained silence by the Alagbaka media bulldogs on the looming impeachment contrary to the way they react to rumours and information whether counterfeit or genuine is an indication that the deputy governor may be finally on his way out.

Amidst the controversies, SecretReporters learned that spokesmen from the governor’s camp have been having a field day bashing Agboola from left, right and centre not minding his Office as the Deputy Governor of the state.

Like a general abandoned by his soldiers, media aides attached to the office of the Deputy Governor reportedly went numb. Even the governor’s Personal Assistant Sam Ogunmusi, known for always publicly defending his master was nowhere to be found stated our source which hinted possible smacks of betrayal.

It was further revealed that that the Commissioner of Information in the state has also been having his pound of flesh as he has been taking Agboola to the cleaners lately and setting the Ijaw People in Ondo State against the Deputy Governor by blaming him for lack of any developmental project at the Ijaw Speaking area of Ondo State.

Alagbaka sources squealed that the Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu is waiting patiently for his deputy to begin the implementation of his planned defection before commencing impeachment proceedings against him to enable the EFCC to get him arrested and prosecuted.
