Unworthy Servant: Chief Instructor At The Nigerian College Of Aviation Technology, Zaria, Isah Akwaita Danjuma Pockets Millions of Naira From Federal Coffers Through Dubious Contracts

Ongoing investigations by this online media have shown that the Aviation Ministry is a web of corruption as findings have uncovered how several officers in the ministry trashed the stiff laws regulating the conduct of government staff by using their companies to illegally execute contracts. 

One of such is Isah Akwaita Danjuma, a Chief Instructor at the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology, Zaria, under the same Ministry of Aviation, who has been found to have violated the Code of Conduct Bureau and Tribunal Act through contract racketeering to the tune of ₦11,176,484.76.

The CCBT Act stipulates that public officials should not own or run a private company while employed as full-time staff. However, such laws do not apply if the company or business is in the farming sector.

Perusing Govspend, a government portal that tracks and analyses federal government spending, it was discovered that the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology, Zaria, made the payment of ₦5,784,417.38 for the supply of communication systems items for conduct of ATE school training programmes to Vata Technical Enterprises on the 15 of September 2022.

It was also discovered that on 25 of October 2022, the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology, Zaria, made the payment of ₦5,392,067.38 for the supply of “acillaries for update of the airfield ground lighting system workshop / laboratory and allied facilities” to Vata Technical Enterprises.

Vata Technical Enterprises was incorporated in Sabon Gari L.G.A, Nigeria with Registration Number 2323275. It was registered on 19 November 2014 and its current status is unknown. The company’s registered office address is Plot No.5 Bomo Lane, Tpo, 835 Kabama Layout, Zaria Kaduna.

The company has three key management executives, among who is Isah Akwaita Danjuma. It was discovered that he is a Chief Instructor at the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology, Zaria.
