Following the sack of two Commissioners from the Delta State cabinet on Thursday, namely Mr Nicholas Azinge of Health Ministry and Grandpa Dan Okenyi of Culture and Tourism, our sources within the kitchen cabinet of the governor confided in us that Senator Ifeanyi Okowa has jetted out of the state.
We can report authoritatively that while the plan was on to announce the names of the commissioners to be sacked, Okowa directed the protocol officers to put him and few of his aides onboard the next available flight to Lagos, in order to stop pressure that may come from the sack. He specifically told the Secretary to the State Government, Mr Festus Agas, to announce the reshuffling and sack once his flight is 23,000 feet high above sea level. As soon as he got to the airport and the plane left, the hammer fell on the two Commissioners, whom Secret Reporters has consistently criticised of not working effectively.
Okowa who’s currently in Lagos Secret Reporters can report without an air of doubt, that he actually came to do nothing, but just to sleep and avoid political involvement in the names of the persons that will replace the kicked out cabinet members. Since his arrival in Lagos, he has not stepped out of the governor’s lodge, as he was busy compiling and evaluating new names that will be shown the exit doors in days to come to replace with competent hands. His known MTN and Glo lines were switched off, leaving only his new line, used in communicating with close aides. The numbers of the powerful aides are also switched off.
After flying to Lagos just to sleep, Okowa will be flying back to Asaba today.
The new commissioner designate for Health, Dr Mordi Ononye we gathered is not only a good hand in the medical field but an able politician and grassroots mobilizer, who is sure to bring life to the ministry and local government politically.
