Head of Operations, Onuesoke Foundation on Climate Change, Mrs. Pearl Patience Igho, has advised the people of Delta State on the need to check the disposal of their waste products in order to avoid flooding and environmental disaster.
She advised the Delta State government to increase waste dump sites in the state and increase campaign on waste control. Mrs Igho gave the advise following a three-day torrential rainfall in Warri and Sapele in the state in which no fewer than four buildings collapsed and properties worth millions of Naira were destroyed as a result of flooding.
Addressing newsmen in Warri, after her sympathy visit to the flood victims, Pearl advised residents that to avoid future flooding, they should imbibe the habit of dumping their waste in dust bins for onward delivery to dump sites instead dumping them in drainage.
