Ini-obong Uko
Comrade Ini-obong Uko, the Vice President (SOUTH-SOUTH), National Association of University Students (NAUS) has called on the Honorable Minister of Transportation, HE Rt Hon Rotimi Amaechi to ban Peace Mass Transportation Services from operating in Nigeria. He made this observation in a NANS Stakeholders meeting/Press briefing in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State yesterday 13th July, 2016.
According to him, the company lacks the credibility to operate on Nigerian roads as they cannot employ competent drivers who can drive with the consciousness that the demise of a soul in Nigeria means a lot to the Nigerian community. The Comrade disclosed that it is the responsibility of students leaders like him to agitate for fairness in every sphere of happiness in Nigeria and as a result of that, it is necessary for him to call for the ban of this transport company as it has injured and claimed many lives of innocent Nigerians including students and youths because of carelessness in the side of their drivers.
Hear him, “I do not owe anybody an apology as I say this, but let it be on record that as a student leader, the lives of students means a lot to me, and each time a student dies, the students community suffers a set back and this can not persist. It is either the employ credible drivers or cease to operate, next time their motor kills a student, I will sue them and Nigeria will not fall.”
In the same vain, the dogged Comrade called on Akwa Ibom State Government to award scholarship to students, he started unequivocally that the current state government has enjoyed tremendous support from students which contributed to the success of the government both before and after the elections and posterity had it that the Government should have the students community as their priority. This is because the future of the society depends solely on the products gotten from the school.
However, He commended the industrialization strides of the Governor, Deacon Udom Emmanuel and Salutes the Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Onofiok Luke for leading the most robust house of assembly which has supported the Governor in the sustainable development of the state.
