Following the expose made tuesday on the resignation letter submitted to Nigeria President Goodluck Jonathan by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Chairman, Bamanga Tukur, an emergency meeting has been convened at the Presidential Villa to fashion ways in saving the Chairman from the disgrace coming on Thursday, January 16th 2014.
A source within the Villa told us that the meeting which began around 9.30pm is currently going on with the Vice President, Namadi Sambo as the Chairman. Others who are in the meeting include the National Assembly top leadership, namely; Senate President David Mark; Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu; Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal; Deputy Speaker Emeka Ihedioha; and House Leader, Mulikat Akande and Senate Leader, Victor Ndoma-Egba
His right hand man, Governor Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom State who he has been begging to talk to the governor is also in attendance alongside his Kaduna State counterpart, Governor, Ibrahim Shema.
The PDP Board of Trustees Chairman, Tony Anenih is also there. Others in the meeting include the Minister of Justice, Bello Adoke, Minister of Petroleum, Diezani Alison Madueke, though she came in few minutes after the meeting began. Bamanga Tukur Deputy Chairman and Women Leader, Uche Secondus and Kema Chikwe are all in attendance.
Top on the agenda of the meeting is to save Tukur who refuted reports of his resignation this evening. Other issues to be discussed our sources says, is how to stamp the PDP authority in the National Assembly despite being in the minority
