With the expiration of his tenure as the Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service, Babatunde Fowler may be in for difficult times as sources within the commission squealed that the recent video making the rounds online was a clear indication of the bad blood that existed between the immediate past FIRS Boss and his workers during his four-year tenure.
In the video seen by this online news medium, the staffers, clearing not happy with Mr Fowler were heard bidding him farewell while mocking him saying “Waka! Final exist, Ishiru…byeeee” as he drove out from the service headquarters located at the Central Business District, Abuja with no sirens like he was accustomed to in convoy of five cars.
Also according to sources, Mr Fowler’s tenure was marred with various degrees of financial misappropriation and Executive recklessness which included using his Personal and Special Assistants to carry out duties meant for official staff while paying them from the service coffers, purchase of vehicles at outrageous amounts, and his disregard for laid down service rules.
SecretReporters further gathered that the erstwhile revenue chief was asked to step aside for Mr Nami despite using all mechanism within his disposal weeks before his replacement to secure an extension as his letter to the Secretary of the Government of the Federation (SGF) Mr Boss Mustapha on December 9, 2019, requesting for an extension few hours before his official replacement was outrightly trashed.
The Non-extension of Mr fowler’s tenure many believe may be connected to the query issued to him by the presidency back in August and an alleged scandal currently brewing in the commission which has seen nine (9) senior officials of the service detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in connection to a multi-million Naira Fraud.
