WASTING FUNDS: HOW ABUJA ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION BOARD PAYS 80% GHOST WORKERS WHILE BUHARI TURNS BLIND EYES

Information at the disposal of LeadingReporters revealed that the Abuja Environmental Protection Board is enmeshed in employment scandal bordering on ghost workers.

According to a source who pleaded anonymity, the agency is flooded with fictitious names from some ‘Ogas’ from the Ministry of the Federal Capital Territory MFCT, and another agency under it, the Federal Capital Development Authority FCDA.

The source alleged that employment in the Sewage Plant in Idu Industrial area was a hoax as no due process was followed.

“It would be recalled that the AEPB took over the management of the plant from SCC. What followed was a bizarre employment where the majority of the staff there got the employment by mere phone calls from top management officers in Ministry of Federal Capital Territory and FCDA. No advertisement, no recourse to Federal Character Principles and no interview held to ensure that only the bests are employed”.

The source challenged the office of the Auditor General for the Federation, the EFCC, ICPC, and other concerned agencies to take stock of the staffs in that agency, and see if 80% of them are not ghost workers.

“I challenge the concerned authorities to take inventory of the staff of AEPB. I can authoritatively tell you that 80% of the staff in that agency are ghost workers. Salaries are simply wired into their accounts without anyone knowing who they are”.

It would be recalled that LeadingReporters has in the past unveiled many illegal and atrocious activities of the so-called field officers of the agency, including sex-for-freedom meted out at some of the lady-hawkers whose wares are confiscated.
