Ripping the Motherland: How Corrupt Nigerian Politicians and Civil Servants Acquired Dubai Properties

With no houses owned by the common man, few Nigerians bolt away with the country’s commonwealth to where they have acquired choice properties in Dubai, a haven that hides them from Anti-Corruption agencies. 

SecretReporters brings you the luxury collection of Dubai properties owned by these merchants of death. These properties, upon investigation, are within the price range of N67,000,000 to N400,000,000. 

Some names on the on the list are:

IKE EKWEREMADU

Ike Ekweremadu is a Nigerian politician and lawyer from Enugu State. He is a serving Senator who has been elected to office since 2003 under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party. Ekweremadu served as the Deputy Senate President in Nigerian Senate for three consecutive (6th, 7th, and 8th) senate.

Findings by SecretReporters reveal that he acquired two flats in Al Barsha South Fourth, located in the heart of Dubai. 

Documents attached to the property show his date of birth as 5/12/1962, with Passport Number A50194497 issued on 7/15/2016 with an expiry date of 7/14/2021 and Dubai contact number + 971-50-5689860

IFEATU CHINEDU ONEJEME

Ifeatu Chinedu Onejeme, the Commissioner for Finance, Industry, Innovations & Development Financial Institutions in Anambra State under Governor Willie Obiano, retained the position and is the current Commissioner of Finance under Governor Charles Soludo.  

His absence from work made him popular among the staff in the Ministry, which handles a lot of sensitive data in Anambra State, including the processing of the payment of Contractors and Consultants from all other Ministries and Agencies in the State.

INYANAGBO MARCUS WABARA

Inyanagbo Marcus Wabara is an APC stalwart who hails from the Ukwa axis of Abia State. He was the APC senatorial candidate for Abia South in the 2019 general elections. He is a Former Member of the governing council, Federal University Gashua, Yobe State; a former member and Board of Directors/Chairman, Technical/Projects Monitoring Committee, Cross River Basin Development Authority.

Findings by SecretReporters reveal that he acquired Two (2) flats in Al Barsha South Fourth, located in the heart of Dubai. 

Documents attached to the property show his date of birth as 2/26/1951, Passport Number A2991737A issued on 1/1/2004.

HAKEEM ADEREMI MUILI

Hakeem Aderemi Muili is the former Executive Secretary, Oyo State Local Government Pension Board. He was one of the principal suspects arrested in August 2013, as part of a syndicate by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), over the stealing of N1.7billion pension funds meant for retirees of Oyo State Primary Schools.

YUSUF DATTI BABA AHMED

Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed is a Nigerian economist and politician. After his service year at the University of Agriculture Abeokuta, Ogun state, he worked as Projects Co-ordinator, Baze Research and Data Services Ltd. and as Officer II in the Nigerian Security Printing and Minting Company, Lagos. He worked as a Banking Officer with First Bank of Nigeria Plc from July 1997 to December 1998, before becoming the Managing Director of Baze Research and Data Services Ltd in July 1999 – January 2003, after which he ventured into politics.

He was a member of the House of Representatives between 2003 and 2007 under the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP).

He was elected Senator for Kaduna North in Kaduna State in April 2011 under the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) and contested for Nigerian Presidency in 2018. He is the founder and Pro-chancellor of Baze University, which opened in April 2011. He recently secured a licence to operate a second university, Baba-Ahmed University, in 2022.

NNAMDI THOMAS OKORE-AFFIA

Brig-Gen Nnamdi Thomas Okore-Affia (Rtd), who hails from Arochukwu in Abia state, was commissioned into the Nigerian Army as a Lieutenant on 1st November 1982. He got promoted to captain in November 1986, Major in 1991, Lieutenant Colonel in 1996, Colonel in 2002 and Brigadier-General in 2008. In August 2011, Brig-Gen Nnamdi Okore-Affia was appointed Director-General, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) by the President and Commander-In-Chief of the Nigerian Armed Forces, thus making him the 15th Chief Executive of the Scheme.

DANIEL CHUKWUDUMEBI OKOH

Daniel Chukwudumebi Okoh is a native of Ndoni in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area of Rivers State, Nigeria. He is the General Superintendent of Christ Holy Church International – an African Independent Church. In the area of Politics and Governance, Archbishop Daniel Okoh was one of the six delegates that represented the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in the National Political Reform Conference of 2005 organized by the Federal Government of Nigeria. 

From 2009 – 2011 Most Rev. Daniel Okoh served on the board of National Orientation Agency (NOA) as an Institutional representative of the Christian Association of Nigeria.
