Akwa Ibom is known to receive the highest allocation from the Federal government following the relative stability in the area as an oil-producing region; however, some unscrupulous elements in the state especially the Commissioner for Works Ephraim Inyang hides under the guise of project execution to loot and embezzle public funds.

Investigations by SecretReporters showed that Ephraim Inyang who was appointed in 2015 by Governor Udom Emmanuel as the Commissioner of Works due to his mantra for infrastructural development is actually a green snake hiding under the green grass as it is alleged that while the pious Commissioner awards contracts and executes same, he allegedly adds certain percentages that are suitable to him as his own share of the national cake.

It was also revealed that the heinous Commissioner allegedly uses these percentage in acquiring properties in the choicest areas of the state amongst which is the acquisition of a massive land located at David Lawrence Crescent, Shelter Afrique in Uyo on which he is allegedly building an Estate which contains about 16 duplex mansion estimated to worth over N7, 000, 000, 000 (Seven Billion Naira).

Our reporter who visited the Estate confirmed from reliable sources that the magnificent Estate which has three giant gates and stand-by generators powering it to prevent power outage belonged to the upgraded looter.

“Na Oga Ephraim Inyang get this one na. This one na just the latest one sha the man get other properties when make sense for the state o. Na as he dey work he dey collect e own na. Because na where man dey work, na there he take dey chop And I know say by the time Udom Emmanuel win again, the man fit even buy private jet.” squealed our source while laughing.

Our source also alleged that the area which is opening up via development seems to have been reserved for political office holders as almost every political and public office holder has a property in the area which they allegedly acquired using stolen public funds.

When contacted for his reaction to the allegation the commissioner in response through a text message stated that the house in question belongs to a top-shot from Anambra state.

In his words “You are definitely on a mission to write against me because you don’t do any other work than be sent to ask me stupid and empty questions. You must have the story in the social media in December 2018 and a picture of the property with a limousine parked outside costing 7.8billion. The house from investigation belongs to the MD of orange drugs in Anambra state. Where I live now is an incomplete storey building with servant quarters. It is yet to be completed. It is an old story” he stated, probably referring to Tony Ezenna’s mansion in Ikoyi Lagos in a pretence to be unaware of the building in question which was confirmed by workers on-site to be his.

Recall that the Commissioner had earlier been alleged to have embezzled the professional fees of Estate Surveyors and Valuers in the state amounting to over N600, 000, 000 (Six Hundred Million Naira) which prompted them to a write a petition to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) against him. An allegation which he vehemently refuted when contacted by this online news medium claiming he only plays a supervisory role and not directly in-charge of their payment.
