It is no longer news that the looting episodes playing out in most if not all sectors of the economy has transcended into a cancerous ailment that seems difficult to fully eradicate and like a venom has shown its ugly head in the National Lottery Regulatory Commission (NLRC) whose primary mission is to sanitize and regulate lottery activities by businesses and organizations across Nigeria as reported by SecretReporters for weeks.

The gap between the commission’s original mandate and its actualization has come to a worrisome state as alleged information reveals that the commission is neck deep in financial misappropriation and executive recklessness, which has in no small way contributed to the chaotic nature of the nation’s economy.

Documents in possession of SecretReporters reveals that the Director General (DG) of the National Lottery Regulatory Commission (NLRC) Lanre Gbajabiamila, is clearly a square peg in a round hole as his dubious and fraudulent activities can no longer be swept under the carpet. This is evidently seen in his alleged purchase of the commission’s operational vehicles without recourse to appropriation.

This online news medium exclusively gathered that a sum of N60million was spent on the procurement of two (2) units of posh Toyota Corolla cars way above the market value of N15million each.

Also about N60 million was also uncovered to have been spent in procuring two (2) units of Toyota Camry 2017 cars, against its market value of N17 million for each. However, we learnt that the Toyota Camry cars supplied was that of the 2016 model as against the 2017 model paid for by the commission.

Furthermore the DG in expanding his looting tentacles also continued in his dubious procurements as another tranche of N150 million was subsequently spent in the purchase of three (3) manual transmission 30-seater Toyota Coaster buses from Lanre Shittu Motors Nig Ltd; against its market value of N35million for each bus thereby allegedly smiling to the bank with more than N97miiilion pilfered from the purchases made.

Our sources within the commission alleged that this fraudulent gimmick by Mr Lanre is a norm in the commission which he now runs as a personal business while calling on the relevant anti-corruption agencies to swing into action by checkmating this form of executive recklessness and financial malpractices carried out by the looting octopus.

As usual, he refused to speak to us on phone.
