DEEP SECRET: HOW EMEKA OFFOR MADE ROCHAS OKOROCHA IMO STATE GOVERNOR BECAUSE OF OHAKIM’S INSULT ON HIM AT MIDNIGHT

In recent times Imo State has been filled with politicians blindly decamping from one political party to another. This has since been a major reason for the long-term crises that divided the internal democracy of PDP which led to the change of baton to APC. This crisis brought in enmity between politicians and businessmen who had keen interests in the eastern heartland, a clear case being that of Emeka Offor, a business mogul and Ikedi Ohakim, the then Governor of Imo State.

SecretReporters can authoritatively report that Ikedi Ohakim lost his opportunity to re-enter the Douglas House now People’s House for a second term during a diplomatic committee meeting held at Transcorp Hilton Hotel. This gathering which had in attendance political and influential dignitaries like the renowned Anambra born businessman Emeka Offor was held with a major aim of reconciling the political crises in the state that started in the early 2000s.

Emeka Offor, a Nigerian Mogul and entrepreneur known for his interest in oil, gas, and construction is widely recognized as a top PDP financer who uses his money bag to sponsor politicians within the Nation. As a business mogul and a billionaire swimming in enormous wealth, Emeka Offor does not need to be a Governor or hold any political post before being influential especially in the South East.  While Ikedi Ohakim on the other hand, who was  once a Commissioner for Commerce, Industry and Tourism of Imo State from 1992 to 1993 under governor Evan Enwerem became the Governor of Imo state in May 2007 with the ticket of the Progressive Peoples Alliance (PPA) before switching to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) after he won the election.

The political meeting we learnt was a rigorous one which caused the major division in Imo State. During the meeting, Ohakim in an angry state made a comment directed at Emeka Offor not minding the status quo, influence and power he has to sponsor whoever wants to be Governor. Ohakim apparently insulting Offor said “You have never been Governor. When I am talking, you don’t talk and I am sure you would never be Governor”.

In response, Emeka Offor stomped out of the meeting and in anger went down to the lobby of Transcorp Hilton shouting “Who knows Rochas Okorocha? Go and bring him and I will make him Governor for free”. He also told Ohakim to go and take pictures in Douglas house which has since been renamed the Peoples house by Gov. Rochas, to show his children that he was once a governor and so was it. Today, Emeka Offor is widely recognized to be the Godfather of so many politicians including the Owelle of Imo State Gov. Rochas Okorocha whom he solely sponsored in completing his two-term tenure, unlike Ikedi Ohakim.

Furthermore, it was also gathered that Mr Offor in a build up to the 2003 general elections, donated N200 million to Obasanjo and Atiku presidential re-election campaign. President Buhari’s spokesman, Garba Shehu, who was also allegedly sponsored and managed by Mr Offor, revealed that the PDP Presidential re-election bid in 2003 was solely in the hands of Emeka Offor.

It is also no news that the recent defection from  the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) on  28th July,2018  by Ikedi Ohakim in order to contest for the Imo State governorship seat  in the 2019 general elections is not far-fetched from the power tussle between the duo which saw Ohakim, a sitting governor under the umbrella of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lose to the incumbent governor Rochas Okorocha back then.
