Just like a leopard that never changes its skin, the Managing Director (MD) of the Delta State Oil Producing Area Development Commission (DESOPADEC), Mr Williams Makinde has gone back to his old ways of looting the commission silly.

Secret Reporters has it on good authority that he alongside some of the commissioners of Urhobo extraction like Jonathan Amiteye, Amos Itiwhe and Pius Ovidjeto have concluded plans to shortchange the nationality of their money, while depositing it in their various bank accounts.

Our reliable sources within the commission revealed that a committee was set up by the board to look into the nominal payroll and determine authentic staff while weeding out those just living off the agency.

For the Urhobos, five men made up the committee, namely: Elder Vincent Meslore who was the Chairman, Hon. Henry Ophori who was a former House leader of Ughelli North Council as Secretary, Pastor (Mrs) Okeregbe Elizabeth, Mr Ezekiel Okoh and Mr Teddy Okomakugbe as members.

The committee worked for three months and came up with their findings currently in our possession. Their reports showed that over thirty percent of Urhobos working in the commission and collecting huge salaries are ghost workers. During the course of their fact gatherings, they realized that most of the staff never showed up for work for three months.

Despite discarding the civil service law that states that a worker must be present for minimum of eighteen days and using eight days as a parameter, many of the staff still failed. This action in the course of implementation saved the commission N1 billion, alongside that of other ethnic nationalities who carried out same fact findings.

“Even if the commission decides not to sack those indicted, we have saved them over N400 million, but instead choose to eat our money”, a source confided.

For the work they did, they ought to be paid the sum of N10 million, out of which only N2 million was paid by Makinde. All efforts to get him to pay the money have proved abortive, with excuses daily given. Despite repeated text messages sent to him, he connived with Amiteye to pocket the money.

With complaints of no money in the commission, the loquacious MD secretly doled out over N7 million from the purse to sponsor James Ibori 58th year birthday celebration which held in Oghara last week, a source squealed to Secret Reporters.
