The on-going investigation of the criminal conducts of the Ex-speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Chief Benjamin Chukwuemeka Uwajumogu and his aides, by the Police Force Headquarters in Nigeria has started yielding results. We had earlier reported that the Police Force Headquarters had started investigation on the political killings and corrupt practices involving Ex-speaker Uwajumogu and his aides, namely:- Mr. Kodichi Anamekwe, Emeka Ahaneku, Dan Orji etc.

On storming Owerri, the Imo State capital, Senior Police officers attached to the Force CID of the Force Headquarters’, led by Assistant Superintendent of Police, ASP Faraday Amaechi contacted the petitioner who is a socio-political crusader and the Ex-speaker’s former aide, Mr Ikenna Samuelson Iwuoha. ASP faraday Amaechi and his Team were taken round the state to identify the properties Uwajumogu acquired with State funds fraudulently stolen through road contract scams, and other dubious methods as stated in the petition.

The officers also stormed the residences of Rt. Hon Benjamin Uwajumogu, His Chief of staff (Kodichi Anamakwe), Emeka Ahaneku, and others mentioned in the petition, and letters of invitation dropped for them.

Although Uwajumogu and his aides were to honour the invitation at the Force Headquarters at Abuja, they met with ASP faraday Amaechi and team at the Imo State Police Command, where they made hand written statements before being released on bail, and then ordered to report at the Force Headquarters on the 5th of January 2016 for further interrogation.

On the issue of Ghost workers during Uwajumogu’s uneventful tenure as Speaker, ASP Faraday Amaechi and his team arrested and interrogated the mother of Uwajumogu’s Chief of staff, Madam Monica Anamekwe, the 85 years old woman who received salaries from the speaker’s office for four years. In her statement, Madam Monica Anamekwe confirmed that she received salaries for four years from the Office of the Speaker. She however argued that she was a political appointee although she failed to mention her “actual Portfolio” in the office of the Speaker. Contributing, Iwuoha told the officers that the woman was a fraudster who shamelessly received fat salaries for four years without coming to work and without any portfolio.

The investigators were also informed that Rt. Hon Benjamin Uwajumogu had over 100 (one hundred) ghost workers in his office and requested that the Clerk of the Imo State House of Assembly and the Director of Accounts be made to provide the Salary Payment Slip Register where all the Political Appointees in Uwajumogu’s Office signed off, before collecting their monthly pay cheques. Activist Samuelson Iwuoha maintained that through the ghost workers, millions of naira were monthly diverted by Rt. Hon. Benjamin Uwajumogu and his Chief of Staff, Kodichi Anamekwe. To make the ghost workers appear real and genuine, Iwuoha revealed that Uwajumogu ensured that appointment letters signed by his Chief of Chaff and the Clerk of the House were issued to them. It was also gathered that the same Madam Monica Anamekwe was released on bail after she made her Self indicting statement.

In his statement, Rt. Hon. Ben Uwajumogu admitted that Pastor Emmanuel Adoba, Mr. Kingsley Nkemka, Mr. Chidi, Corporal Chinedu, etc were his aides and that they were brutally murdered at various times. He however denied being responsible for their deaths, as was petitioned. Uwajumogu could not explain why his aides were being killed throughout his tenure as Speaker of Imo State House of Assembly. On the brutal murder of Architect Franklin Okoli; Uwajumogu completely denied knowledge or his involvement. But evidences at the disposal of ASP Faraday Amaechi and his team shows that Uwajumogu was not telling the truth. On the alleged fraudulent activities he committed while in office, the Ex-speaker failed woefully to defend himself, especially on the road contract scams. Before they were released on bail, Messers Emeka Ahaneku, Kodichi Anamekwe and others made statements.

Iwuoha has called on the investigating Police Officers to arrest the Ex-Speaker’s Elder Sister Chidinma Uwajumogu for her dubious and fraudulent activities at the Imo State House of Assembly. The Crusader accused Chidinma Uwajumogu of using her two Non-governmental Organizations namely (1) Development Initiative for Africa Women (DIFAW) and (2) Development Initiative for African Youths (DIFAY), through a unit in the Ex-Speaker’s Officer known as “GENERAL DUTIES DEPARTMENT” and operated for her by Emeka Ahaneku, to defraud the Assembly of millions of naira on monthly basis. According to Iwuoha, “All the records of the fraud are in the Accounts Department of the Imo State House of Assembly”.

We also gathered that over N50 million was withdrawn from the Accounts Department by Rt. Hon. Uwajumogu through his Chief of Staff (Kodichi Anamekwe) in the first week of November 2013 and was used to sponsor Chidnma Uwajumogu’s 50th birthday in Abuja few days later, which had in attendance, all the Honourable members of the Imo State House of Assembly.

On the properties he acquired with stolen state funds, Uwajumogu explained that he was a wealthy man before he emerged Speaker in 2011. But Iwuoha had informed the Police investigators that the Ex-Speaker was a poor man who squandered his late father’s wealth and investments in the 90’s. The activist revealed that Uwajumogu was so poor that he could not purchase the PDP House of Assembly form in 2011, and that Senator Athan Achonu Nneji paid for the form, according to information available to him and to most political leaders in the state.

He further revealed that Ex- Speaker Uwajumogu and his family were so poor that they could not bury their mother who died in 2005. The former Governor of Abia State, His Excellency Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu personally financed the burial in 2005, Samuelson stated. “It was a shame that the Uwajumogu family could not bury their mother when she died in 2005. It became an embarrassing situation for the family before His Excellency Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu came to the rescue and personally financed the burial. The Ex-Governor is very much alive and can confirm this. Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu is my friend, so naturally I have this information”.

ASP Faraday Amaechi and his team also interrogated the Head of Homicide Department at the Imo State Police Command, Supol Innocent Obi, on the Circumstances that surrounded the murder of Architect Franklin Okoli, was murdered by five boys sent by Uwajumogu on the 3rd of June 2014. In his statement, Supol Innocent Obi admitted that he investigated the murder of Architect Franklin Okoli. He however denied working with former Commissioner of Police (CP Abdulmajid Ali) for Uwajumogu. Supol Innocent Obi could not explain how and why he charged Iwuoha and his wife to court for murder, even after he confirmed that the activist and his wife were not responsible for the murder of Architect Franklin Okoli. He could not explain what Uwajumogu’s Chief security Officer (Mr. Omeudo) came to do in his officer on the 5th of June (Thursday) 2014 at about 5.30pm.

Also Supol Innocent Obi could not explain why despite four separate blood tests from blood stains samples found in Samuelson’s apartment and that of Late Franklin Okoli which did not match, the activist and his wife were still charged to court. Also, Supol Innocent Obi denied knowledge of the five boys who murdered Architect Franklin Okoli, and whose names are with the Imo Police Command and other security agencies in the state, including Department of State Security (DSS) and Civil Defense Corps.
