The battle to remove the Medical Director, Federal Medical Centre, Owerri, Mrs Angela Uwakwem may have been won at last as information getting to Secrets Reporters indicates that she has been given the boot, but those who asked her to quit wants it done honorably.

We can authoritatively report that the embattled MD who is arguably the longest serving Chief Medical Officer in the country was jittery as the news of her impending sack filtered to her, so much that she hurriedly met with a top Federal Ministry of Health official who will advice her on what to do, and cover her crimes while in office.

The meeting which took place on Wednesday morning at REIZ Continental Hotel, Abuja had just two plans on the agenda.

Plan A we learnt is to install a ping pong candidate who will be loyal to her as she leaves, and also cover all her evil deeds. The candidate to do this is one Dr Jide Egwim, a family physician from the ministry.

Our sources within the MD’s camp revealed that Egwim installment as the next MD of FMC has been perfected this morning. He is a known and die hard loyalist of Angela, who sent him to the US on study leave to study Hospital Management and Administration probably waiting for a day like this.

Dr Egwim according to our sources who attended the MDCAN meeting on Monday frustrated the voting that would have seen all the physicians present equally demand for the MD sack.

Dr Egwim was once the Association of Resident Doctors (ARD) FMC, Owerri President and also Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), when Angela was the Chairman. He also took over from her as NMA Chairman when her tenure expired, but his administration was filled with controversy, ranging from financial embezzlement of union funds, though we are yet to verify if he was cleared of such monumental allegations. He is also from the same Mberi in Mbaitolu LGA of Imo state.

Her other plan is to bring in a consultant from FMOH to take over from her if the Egwim succession plan meets brick wall as it is expected, since he does not enjoy the support of most consultant and various Chiefs in every clinical department but sources stated that the hospital staff are rooting for the head of HCS who is the second ranking person in the hospital even though he will b retiring in a few months time.

In another development, we gathered that her trip to Abuja was to tell the ministry officials that the hospital is working perfectly well, but our reporter who went there and took some pictures described the place as a grave yard. Only few officials were walking round the premises. Our camera lens caught some Engineers installing the refurbished CT Scan which she bought for over N200 million. She hurriedly called them to install it following the petition against her and protest, which has the purchase of such dead scan machine as a reason against her.
