Secret Reporters
Information reaching the news desk of SecretReporters has it that the political tussle between Governor Rochas Okorocha and a group of political bigwigs in the state known as the “Allied Forces” has taken a new twist with the proposed weapon of attack by each party being Section 188 of the 1999 Constitution “IMPEACHMENT”.
The Governor who is still nursing his anger from the events of last Saturday’s ward congresses in the state in which he was totally humiliated and outsmarted we learnt, has resorted to attack by bribing the Imo State house of Assembly with N100 million Naira to impeach the deputy governor whom he perceives is on the enemy side and scheming against him.
On the other hand, a source in the Imo state parliament on authoritative grounds confirmed to our reporter that the Allied forces of the APC in Imo state as a counter measure has also initiated plans to remove the governor from office using an act of impeachment by the same state parliament.
The “Allied Forces” led by a group of past and present Senators of the APC in Imo states spearheaded by Senator Ifeanyi Ararume, Senator Ozita Izunaso , Senator Hope Uzodinma and Senator Benjamin Uwajimuogu is said to have taken the action to immediately remove Okorocha from office after his visit to Daura and Abuja resulted in the removal of the Imo state commissioner of police, as they feared that such further visits, leaving Okorocha unchecked and allowing him to continue in office could jeopardise their plans and cripple them political come 2019.
The source also disclosed that, Governor Okorocha over the years had held the house members in bondage through blackmail and threats to deny most of them return tickets, as the game of thrones which is perceived by many to be between the governor and a group of individuals is actually between Governor Okorocha and APC as a party, thus the likelihood of most house members to key into impeaching him as the best and safest action they can take to avoid going into political extinction, an everyday threat received by many who try to oppose the Statue governor.
“Rochas may want to kick to show strength but they will keep him in line with impeachment because most of the House members would want to come back, and impeachment may serve as inducement to them. The order would be ‘Impeach Him and Get Back your Ticket” stated Barr. Christopher Okafor, a Port Harcourt based political strategist from Imo State, who also hinted that the impeachment is a tactical possibility.
The events that unfolded last Saturday in Imo state is no longer news as it was very clear that Governor Rochas Okorocha has lost his mighty grip and relevance in a party which he claimed he single handedly built, with political bigwigs in the state setting aside their different ambitions to ensure the governor does not hijack the party and impose a candidate on them, an action they see as a threat if they must remain politically relevant in Imo State.
