ELECTED TO LOOT: DELTA COUNCIL BOSS OF UKWUANI FRITTER AWAY N50 MILLION FROM TREASURY WITH OKOWA’S COMMISSIONER SUPPORT

Ever since former Nigeria Speaker, Patricia Etteh made infamous headline of being a woman looter, many of the female folks elected or appointed into position have toes same line, from FMC, Owerri MD, to Diezani Alison Madueke and recently the current boss of Ukwuani local government council, Mrs Benedicta Osakuni Ndudi.

The itchy finger iron lady who assumed office in 2014 has taken the local government purse as her personal accountant, with impunity to withdraw whenever she likes, without recourse to the law that says such huge withdrawal must get the approval of the Councilors.

Documents which has been obtained by Secrets Reporters detailed how in the space of two months, between November to December 2014, she singlehandedly squandered a whooping sum of N50 million among other amount running into millions.

Benedicta who is silently referred to as Margaret Thatcher runs the local government like her private estate and a dictator whose words must be obeyed, daring anyone who challenge her to report to the State governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa.

In connivance with the local government treasurer, Mr Okoloroko Robinson, they siphoned money for projects which never saw the light of the day as at the time of compiling this report.

Such projects include the rehabilitation of an unnamed road in the local government for the sum of seven million, five hundred Naira and another common renovation of a mere Health Care Centre for an eye popping sum of Ten Million Naira. These projects never saw the light of the day, as the funds developed wings and flew away. We also have it on good authority that other of such projects which huge sum of money were budgeted for but never embarked on are the extension of the Secretariat building for Twelve million, five hundred thousand Naira, furnishing of offices for Two million, eight hundred and sixty eight thousand and four hundred Naira while a retreat that cost no more than Five hundred thousand Naira had Three million, Six hundred and Eighty thousand Naira as its budget.

All these looting happened within two months, without the approval of the relevant bodies. Secrets Reporters has gathered that efforts by the Councilors’ to seek redress through the governor has met brick wall, as the Commissioner for Water Resources, Mr Okenmor Fidelis Tilije who is from the area has threatened to deal with the Councilors if they don’t drop their agitations.

According to a reliable source, Tilije is in support of Benedicta looting the council treasury, relying on his executive power and closeness to Okowa to deal ruthlessly with any Councilor who goes against his directive.
