The political battle for the sole ticket of the governorship seat of Delta State from the camp of the main opposition party in the state, The All Progressives Congress, in the early hours of today took a new turn after the national leadership of the party through its National Working Committee, NWC, earlier decreed indirect primaries against the choice of direct primaries by some of the aspirants and stakeholders in the state.
Information reaching our news desk from an impeccable source within the party disclosed that after Sunday’s confusion over the primaries the 2019 Delta State governorship elections may now certainly be between the incumbent governor, Ifeanyi Okowa who yesterday emerged as Delta PDP flag bearer and Chief Great Ogboru of the opposition APC.
SecretReporters learnt that while elections were still ongoing as at 1.30am today at Federal College of Education Asaba, a call came in from the presidency through the National chairman of the party Adams Oshiomhole to present Chief Great Ovedje Ogboru as the winner of election latest by Tuesday in Abuja.
Our source further disclosed that out of the other contenders for the ticket in the party; Dr Cairo Ojugboh, Professor Pat Utomi, and Former Speaker of Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Victor Ochei, Dr Cairo Ojougboh, one of the first to declare his interest in the race from Delta North is to be picked as the running mate for Great Ogboru.
The election held in the middle of the night we learnt was a mere charade just to fulfill all righteousness and create the impression that the emergence of Great Ovedje Ogboru as the Party’s Flag bearer was through a due process.
