EDUCATION MINISTER SPLASHES N30 MILLION ON NANS LEADERS TO FIGHT AGAINST ASUU

Fejiro Oliver

The Supervising Minister of Education, Nyesom Wike who is widely known as a strong ally of President Goodluck Jonathan has made a drastic move to tear the rank of ASUU using the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) President.

Impeccable student leaders in the body among whom are Student Union Government (SUG) Presidents squealed to us that the NANS National President, Yinka Gbadebo popularly called Ayefele was given a huge sum of N30 million to distribute to student leaders across the country to help mobilize students against the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), to discredit the ongoing strike.

We gathered the Yinka sent a text message to all the SUG Presidents and Senate Presidents last night to converge in Abuja today for an ‘interactive session’ with Wike. Some SUG presidents, who spoke to us, noted that they will not honor an invitation of a tout and known cultist, haven shown so by the names he called during the Rivers State House of Assembly saga.

When asked what the agenda will be, a source noted that it will be all about asking for their opinions on how to join the FG in embarrassing ASUU, as well as redeeming the shame that will befall the FG tomorrow should ASUU stick to the strike. We also gathered that the N30 million was rejected by some student leaders who told Yinka to take the money back to the Minister, but he insisted on sharing the money daring them to do their worst.

The outcome of the meeting is not yet known as at the time of filing in this report.
