Secret Reporters
Stealing in every form begins gradually and in secret for a while but when it is left unchecked or uncurbed it escalates with impunity and carried without remorse then when it continues perpetually, it is seen as a way of life. This cannot be far from the truth as principal actors in our institutions of learning have turned themselves to demigods to be religiously worshipped by students in their institutions.
The rector of Delta State Polytechnic, Ozoro, Professor Akpodiete has resolved to become the richest PhD holder of all time in looting by unleashing all artilleries at his disposal to plunder the future leaders of tomorrow who are domiciled in the Delta State Polytechnic.
Information made available to SecretReporters reveal that the avaricious Rector has devised a new strategy to make his bank accounts bigger by making the graduating students seeking the award of National Diploma and Higher National Diploma his primary target as it is alleged that he has mandated all graduating students to pay a compulsory fee of N5,000 for National Diploma and N2000 for Higher National Diploma respectively while group project members are also required to pay N5,500 to a First Bank Account with account number “2026966623”, and account name “Delta State Polytechnic Ozoro Dedicated Revenue A/C” for the purpose of binding their project work.
Our source further lamented that the illegal fee stipulated by the Rector is exuberant and an outright extortion of the students as vendors within and outside the school’s premises binds this same projects for as low as N400 using quality hard paper, while the school uses very low-quality materials to bind the projects for students who paid the illegal compulsory fee thus resulting in the rebinding of projects by most of the students. It is also alleged that students were in a mad rush to pay the compulsory project binding fee in order to beat the August 10th deadline as they are not allowed to defend their project without paying the illegal fee.
It will be recalled that the venal Professor who only became Rector in 2017 has been in the web of huge financial scandals and reckless spending which have in no small way affected the developmental strides of the school and has placed the credibility of Prof. Akpodiete on the balance. The Fejiro Oliver Whistle-blowers Network (FOWN) has since submitted a petition to the anti graft agencies, to begin the investigation and prosecution of the Rector.
