In a rare show of integrity paying off, Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressive Congress (APC) has been elected to fly the party presidential flag come 2015. In an election keenly contested at the Teslim Balogun, Stadium, Lagos State, he polled a total of 3430 votes to emerge winner.
Kano State governor, Rabiu Kwakwanso pulled a surprising one by beating highly rated Atiku Abubakar with 974 votes, while Atiku pulled 954 votes. Sam Nda-Isaiah disappointingly got a sympathy vote of 10 while Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha polled 624.
He will be contesting against Nigeria President, Goodluck Jonathan who was made the sole candidate of his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Atiku accepting defeat congratulated Buhari saying “I have no doubt that you will work with dedicated and qualified Nigerians to protect our citizens, improve our economy, create jobs, improve education, reform governance and fight corruption. You will indeed bring the change Nigerians have been yearning for.”
