When Jacob (not real name) secure admission into the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) in 2008 for a Postgraduate programme in Nursing, his hope was that he will graduate before year 2010.
Sadly enough, he is still in the UNN with no hope of graduating by 2015.
Our searchlight beamed on the programme revealed many absurdities going on there. A source who confided in us stated that since their entry into the University, results has never been released on time while the lecturers deliberately delay students work for no reason.
We authoritatively gathered that the 2010 set of the Msc programme in Nursing are not yet done with their course work, but they are meant to pay a whooping school fees of Seventy Two Thousand Naira (N72,000) annually. Further search for the abnormalities going on in UNN revealed that there has been no result release in the department for over three year while there has been no seminar held for about four set of postgraduate students.
A particular lecturer, Dr Ogbonnaya N.P who coordinates seminar we gathered has not taught a single of her course till date, even before the ASUU strike began. The only exceptions to this act are those of the PG Coordinator, Dr Ehieme. I. whose students are almost through with their course work and quickly helps in correcting researches carried out by them as well as the former Head of Department, Dr Okolie. V.U who saw to it that those who started the programme in 2003/2004 graduated this year
