Still angered by the political defeat of December 8th 2014, the Urhobo Progress Union (UPU) has vowed to pay back the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in their own coins.
This was made known on Sunday when leading guber aspirants and career politician, Chief Great Ovedje Ogboru visited the UPU President, Joe Omene. Omene who played host to the Labor Party flag bearer expressed displeasure over the victory of the PDP candidate, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa who he noted coasted to victory because of the betrayal of some Urhobo sons and daughters.
In a payback mood, the UPU vowed to teach Chief James Ibori who they believed pulled the political strings that saw Olorogun David Edevbie losing to Okowa, despite the support of the State Governor, Emmanuel Uduaghan.
The UPU leadership insisted on the Uvwiamuge declaration with threats to punish everyone “who sold Urhobo” during the just concluded PDP primaries, after they must have met to discuss the best way to deal with them.
According to a dependable source within the UPU who spoke to our reporter, the body is set on delivering an Urhobo son in the person of Ogboru using their numerical strength. “This will be the toughest challenge for Okowa as the UPU is fighting the battle of political vengeance which is worse than the primaries”, the source confided in this medium.
Machineries are already been set in place to mobilize all Urhobos towards the project.
