SMALL BOY LOOTER: NUJ REJECTS GOV. OKOWA’S MONEY OVER CPS OLISA CONSTANT STEALING

The Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Delta State Council may be set for a showdown with the Delta State government over the alleged dubious attitude of the Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Olisa Ifejika.

SecretReporters can report factually that the NUJ rejected the money provided by Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa to the invited journalists during yesterday’s quarterly press briefing. According to our sources, the sum of N1.3 million was given to Mr. Olisa who decided to share only three hundred thousand Naira to various chapels, which angered the journalists. The CPS gave the Ughelli chapel sixty thousand Naira to share among six persons who came all the way from Ughelli. He distributed same to other chapels. The angry journalists told SecretReporters that he has always shortchanged them since he was appointed two years ago and could no longer bear it, hence their cry out, so that Okowa can read it and call him to order.

“You are a journalist who once worked in this state. Which journalist under Uduaghan then was given anything less than N40,000 during press briefing? But this CPS will be giving N5000 to journalists while pocketing the rest. Most of us miss Ukah when he was Commissioner for Information as he never allowed such to happen and took care of all of us”, stated a veteran journalist to us.

During the event, Dominic Adewole (Correspondents Chapel Chairman) who once had an accident and was given N1 million by the immediate past Commissioner for Information, Mr. Charles Ehiedu Aniagwu, pleaded with Okowa for his return. Surprisingly Aniagwu was the only past Commissioner who came for the briefing.

The African Independent Television (AIT) correspondent, Ebere Ethel Obiako told the governor about the deplorable condition of the Government House Press Unit, which prompted the governor to leave the venue for assessment of the place where he promised to put it in order.
