Coalition of Abuja Pro-Health Civil Society Organisations CAPRO has called on the Inspector-General of Police, Muhammed Adamu and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mallam Mohammad Musa Bello to as a matter of urgency effect the arrest and prosecution of AMAC Chairman, Alh. Adamu Candido Abdullahi for violating the sit at home order of the Federal Government.

Candido last week Saturday, in old Karimo Abuja gathered more than 250 loyalists, friends and political associates to organize the wedding ceremony of his son at late Hakim’s Palace, Karimo Tsoho, Abuja.

Speaking after a virtual meeting with leaders of CAPRO, the group says that failure to arrest, quarantine, test and prosecute all those who attended the wedding will amount to one-sidedness, and favouritism on the part of the Federal Government and the Ministry of FCT that has been in the fore prosecuting other Nigerians who violated the order. It will also lead to the spread of the virus to other innocent people.

Speaking, the Spokesperson of the group, vowed to ensure that the authorities effect justice in this case, lest the sit-at-home order by the FG would be seen as targeting the hapless poor who are daily arrested, prosecuted and fined by FCT authorities.

“When irresponsible individuals mount leadership positions, calamity becomes the end result. This seems the case with the Chairman of Abuja Municipal Area Council, Alh. Abdullahi Adamu Candido, who despite the sit at home order by the Federal Government for residents of Abuja, went ahead to organize his son’s wedding, being the 18th of April, 2020.

“From the information we gathered, the wedding had more than 286 people in attendance, crowded into a small palace. Because they knew they were doing the wrong thing, the wedding was hurriedly done in the early hours of the day at the late Hakimi’s Palace, Karimo Tsoho, Abuja.

“How can those who should be the ones mobilizing and ensuring that the grass root people observe all the orders of the FG become the one violating the same orders. It shows how irresponsible they are. It shows they are leaders without morals and conscience. This attitude of leaders has made it hard for the country to progress in the right direction. But worse is the fact that we are contending with a virus that is spreading like wildfire, killing thousands across the globe.

The wedding was between Candido’s son Adamu Adamu Abdullahi and Princess Fatima Salisu Makama, daughter of the former Council Secretary, AMAC, Alh. Salisu Agere Makama.

In a show of “I don’t care what Buhari’s order is”, SecretReporters gathered that the AMAC boss was ferried to the venue of the wedding in a black SUV with covered plate number while a white Hilux was in front. A Mercedes SUV with plate number ABJ 30 NH conveyed the couple while a Hilux with plate number AC 57 ABC and a Kia car with plate number ABC 212 BD were used to bring the Chairman’s aides to the epoch event.

When contacted, the Chairman did not come out straight in his SMS reply to deny or confirm. He merely stated that “I am sure that you did not hear that any activity took place in my house before, during or after whatever wedding you are talking of. Secondly, the house of whoever you are talking of in Karmo did (sic) not belong to me”
