In the aftermath of the viral video in which a former aide to the Abak Local Government Chairman, Barrister Imoh Williams was seen dishing out a five matchet-belt drilling on an artisan and the subsequent suspension of the Chairman by the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, pending the outcome of its investigation into the incident, another video was seen early this week, but this time with the aide behind a camera alleging that the Chairman actually paid him to carry out the assault.
This the embattled Local government Chairman outrightly debunked in a conversation with SecretReporters correspondent while stating that the whole charade was masterminded by his political enemies who will stop at nothing to ensure his political doom.
The Chairman who stated that he had no hand in the pummeling of the artisan as he was not in the country during the incident disclosed to our correspondent that as at Sunday he was already aware of the blackmailers next move which prompted him to immediately alert the Police before the scripted video surfaced in which Uduakobong Aniekan Sam (aka Godswill Alele) his former aide confessed before camera that he carried out the act just to please him and also to raise money for his school fees which were all part of a plot and an agreement his former aide had with his political enemies involving an incentive of 3 million Naira.
“The video was actually authored by an aide to a former House of Reps member” stated the chairman.
According to him, after the new video, it was already clear that a personality like Alele who could speak from two sides of his mouth could not be relied on as there was no way he (Imoh Williams) being a representative of his people and also as a lawyer by profession could have in any way approved the beating of the artisan or the recording of such inhumane treatment fully aware of its legal implications.
“If you go and beat somebody, for what intent and purpose will you video it? If someone said he beat someone on my behalf, why will you video it?”
“The whole thing is political, I’m regretting cos I brought him like others to make a little saving and build his life.”
Speaking on the former aide’s claim that he did the video to please him so he can also get his school fees, the embattled Chairman stated that it was not possible because he had a lot of indigent students he was also assisting in the payment of their school fees, besides Alele was not just his aide but also his blood cousin, so why would he require him to beat up someone first before assisting to pay his school fees.
As a proof to his claim that the aide was compromised and being used by his political enemies against him, Mr Imoh Williams shared a text which he alleged was mistakenly sent by his former aide Alele to his supposed sponsor in the person of Hon. Emmanuel Ekon, the former House of Representatives member who represented Abak/Etim Ekpo/Ika Federal Constituency in the 8th assembly under the umbrella of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) but later defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) where he lost in the last general election.
“My Mp Sir,am In Town Curtsy Of Eky Inyang Trying To Help Me To Exonarate Myself From The Impending Doom. But He Has Tried To Give A Place To Stay, but Feeding Myself Is The Case Now.Sincerely Speaking To You, i Ve Not Eaten Since Morning,am Starvinp To Death Sir.Please For Gods Assist Me With Anyting So I Can Eat.God Bles You My MP,.,ALELE”
It will be recalled that in an earlier statement by the Akwa Ibom State Police Command through its public relations officer DSP Odiko MacDon, the matter involving Mr Imoh Williams and the artisan who was the victim of the assault was already resolved before the viral video surfaced online.
