The very essence through which the Delta State Governor, Mr Ifeanyi Okowa came to power, which is ‘Prosperity for all Deltans’ have been defeated by nepotism and favoritism, with the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer.

From the sudden rise of relatively unknown Anioma born contractors to financial muscle of his struggling Ika kinsmen, Okowa has stamped his feet of ‘wealth to the few’ on them. And the Asaba International Airport is not spared the torture of finding itself in the hands of his beloved.

SecretReporters can authoritatively reveal that the Asaba Airport management is now fully in the control of his political crony and friend.

Findings by this online newspaper reveals that the VIP lounge has secretly been given to James Ibori’s daughter, Erhitake Ibori, who’s a member of the State House of Assembly to manage. She has also been given the exclusive right to collect money from all vehicles passing through the gate, as well as money for any vehicle parked overnight.

A visit by our correspondent to the Airport shows that she has already started collecting money from passengers using the VIP lounge. The lounge which allows users to sit for a fee of N1000 is now pegged at N3000 by Mrs Ibori.

A friend of the Governor, who’s wife was initially penciled down to manage the VIP lounge and gate was compensated with a space to sell food and drinks to passengers, a development which didn’t go down well with Okowa’s friend, but he had to accept since Ibori was involved.

The processes of giving out these facilities as gifts to friends and political allies we gathered never followed any due process.
Calls and SMS sent to Mrs Ibori were not picked nor responded to as at press time.
