It is no longer news that the current regime of President Muhammadu Buhari, with all its acclaimed fight against corruption is one full of alarming and unbelievable happenings as hardly a day goes by without a jaw dropping news that tingle the ear.
Barely nine months to the general elections, an unofficial list containing the names of fifty indigenous and foreign companies, that have been awarded contracts to lift Nigeria’s crude for the 2018/2019 crude oil term has been circulating the media and raising a lot of dust, with many Nigerians alleging that the government of President Buhari smells of creeping cronyism, as the list contained either party functionaries, personals friends or political cronies.
According to the list obtained by SecretReporters, one of the indigenous companies Cassiva Energy as contained in the list is believed to be owned by a staunch friend and ally of the president, Alhaji Nasiru H. Danu.
Cassiva Energy or Cassiva Limited as the company was known in 2017 during an investigation carried out by a newspaper medium to determine if it was an oil company, is purportedly the same company that supplied beddings and furniture to the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).
However, It is surprising that despite allegations, indictments, and criminal charges for fuel subsidy fraud against most companies on the list, the NNPC with President Muhammadu Buhari as Nigerian’s Minister of Petroleum Resources, still went ahead to award contracts to these oil companies who pilferage Nigerian’s oil daily.
