Data in the possession of this online media have shown how the administration of the incumbent Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has been turning a blind eye to the stipulated regulations guiding the award of contracts.

In a recent x-ray of the Lagos State open procurement portal, SecretsReporters gathered that the sum of forty-two million, eight hundred and fifty-one thousand, one hundred and five Naira (N42,851,105) left the coffers of the State’s treasury through dubious contracts awarded to unqualified companies.

According to the data on the portal, in June 2022, the Lagos State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board awarded a contract worth N1,600,000.00 to Crown Plastic Cards Concepts for the “Production of Identity Cards and Luggage Tags for the Year 2022 Hajj”.

Shockingly, our investigation revealed that Crown Plastic Cards Concepts was registered on 07 March 2022. This implies that it got the contract, barely three months after it was established, breaking the law that states that a company must have three years of taxation before being gifted a government contract.

Moreover, the contract details did not reveal the names of other companies that ran the race for the contract and the type of bidding method used.

In another questionable move, the Office of Transformation, Creativity & Innovation, in June 2022, awarded a contract worth N2,073,500.00, for “Re: Yr2022 Service Charter Awareness Programme,” to Jay “N” Eff Events Planners.

When we dug into the details of Jay “N” Eff Events Planners, it was discovered that it was registered on 27th February 2020, which denotes that the company failed to meet the taxation requirement, yet it was awarded the contract.

SecretsReporters further gathered from the portal that in June 2022, Office of Drainage Services & Water Resources awarded a contract worth N39,177,605.99, for the “Construction of Baruwa Collector Drain, Ojokoro, Ifako Ijaiye (Upward Review)”, to Oroye Construction and Company.

As of the time of writing this report, it was not clear if the contract had been completed as there was no information in that regard.
