The rise of contract racketeering among civil servants in the country is becoming alarming and demands urgent attention for anti-corruption agencies to look into, despite the Code of Conduct Bureau and Tribunal (CCBT) act outrightly prevents a civil servant from running or managing a company while still working with a government agency.

Findings have shown how Ibrahim M. Mohammed, a public officer with Wudil General Hospital in Kano State, was involved in the unethical practice of contract racketeering, violating the CCBT law.

SecretReporters discovered that Ibrahim M. Mohammed, while serving as a program officer at Wudil General Hospital, was running and managing a company named Burema NIG. LTD, which he used to secure multiple contracts worth the sum of N132, 514,262.97.

It was discovered that on 12 November 2018, the Office of the Special Adviser to the President in Niger Delta awarded the contract for the supply of office equipment for the office worth N15,838,590 to Burema NIG. LTD.

On 24 October 2018, the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President  – MDGS (OSSAP-MDGS) awarded a contract for the Supply of motorcycles to Kano State worth 32,864,062.95 to Burema NIG. LTD.

On 07 February 2021, the Federal Ministry of Transport awarded a contract for the provision of “corrid fencing for Itakpe-Ajaokuta-Warri railway line project” worth N13,664,234.05 to Burema NIG. LTD.

On 31 March 2021, the National Library of Nigeria awarded a contract for the “re-roofing and renovation of NLN building 227 H/M Lagos PV NO – CA / EXP / 03/2021/101” worth N22,426,445.74 to Burema NIG. LTD.

On 29 December 2020, the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency awarded a contract for the “construction of town hall in Bunza LGA, Kebbi Central Senatorial District, Kebbi State,” worth N47,720,930.23 to Burema NIG. LTD. Totaling N132,514,262.97.

Findings by this news platform revealed that Burema NIG LTD, incorporated in Abuja, Nigeria, with Registration Number 879150, has four key management personnel, among whom is Ibrahim M. Mohammed, a program officer with Wudil General Hospital in Kano State.
