The yet to be conducted election of the Nigerian Union of Journalist, Akwa Ibom State Council has already been decided by the state government machinery, SecretReporters has authoritatively learnt.

The election which is keenly contested by Amos Etuk, who is the current NUJ Secretary General and Joe Robert who is a staff of the State Ministry of Information has tore the political camps of the state apart, with Governor Emmanuel Udom on the side of his employee, Joe Robert and majority of the journalists supporting Amos Etuk, with body language support of the current Senator representing Uyo Senatorial District, Mr Bassey Albert.

According to information sourced by this medium, Udom Emmanual, a professed deacon in the Qua Iboe Church has since moved against the 2023 gubernatorial of Bassey Albert and Onofiok Luke and the first battleground is the media community, thus the decision to impose Joe Robert who will be the stooge.

To carry out this ‘Operation install doll baby Joe Robert’, the Commissioner for Information, Charles Udoh, has been given the mandate to deliver. Alongside the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Ekerete Udoh, who has secret hatred for the current NUJ Chairman, Elder Patrick Albert, all government employees under the ministry of information have been mandated to vote for Joe Robert or risk getting sacked days after the election, while independent media houses correspondents are being bribed to give their vote to their choice candidates.

Another of the governor’s appointee, Mr Emmanuel Sam, who is Special Assistant on local media and publisher of one of the most popular paper in the state, The Guide, has also been ordered to deliver the local media chapels to the governor. This order has left him in a fix, as most of the persons he’s supposed to talk to have already pitched tent with Amos Etuk, while also battling with his conscience of selling the media to his boss.

Amos Etuk who was the media head of Onofiok Luke campaign and the likely winner according to opinions sampled by SecretReporters has been unable to find his benefactors throwing their weights behind him. Sources who spoke to us from Onofiok’s camp squealed that even though he would have loved to openly support Amos, he has decided to leave everything to God and the members to choose their leader freely and fairly, while he focuses on the work sent him by his Etinan Federal Constituency.

Joe Robert who will be a robot as alleged by sources will be coming into the union simply for revenge against the outgoing Chairman, who he wrote series of petitions against to the National body, when he served as Secretary of the union.

The 2019 election was won by Obong Bassey Albert and Onofiok Luke against their benefactor and political godfather, Godswill Akpabio, as Udom merely watched from the sideline while they destabilized and neutralized Akpabio’s plan. It is not clear as at press time the reason the governor is moving against these two few months after securing him a flawless victory in the polls.
