RANDY DOCTOR: FRSC MEDICAL DIRECTOR DENIES TREATMENT TO FEMALE PATIENT WHO REFUSED HIM TO ASSESS HER PRIVATE PART

With the Nigerian media space agog few weeks ago with stories of inhumane, sexual and unprofessional treatment against women in schools, workplaces, and even religious houses, many victims of such cases are gradually confronting their fears by boldly speaking out especially through social media platforms on a very sensitive issue which for long has been hidden from public domain.
In a recent development, an Instagram user @Ashmusy made a post in which a man boldly called out the Chief Medical Officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps Medical Center Gwarimpa, Abuja for allegedly denying his wife treatment all because the CMO claimed that the wife refused him to perform an invasive scan in her vagina two weeks ago.
According to his wife, she opted for a female doctor when she visited the clinic two week ago for an Uterine Scab issue as she was not comfortable with a male doctor assessing or inserting anything into her private part due to the nature of the procedure. The Chief Medical Officer who was earlier supposed to carry out the procedure we learned in a visible display of his anger and grudges allegedly walked the woman out of the government-owned clinic on her next visit even though she was down with Malaria and in very bad shape.
“I feel so hurt to see my daughter cry as her mother was denied treatment. My wife was so weak and unable to respond to the vitriol this man was pouring today” he said.
The husband to the victim further stated that he was not going to allow the incident to be swept under the carpet as he was ready to commence legal actions against the Chief Medical Officer through his lawyer and also petition the Nigerian Medical Association as well as the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).
He also disclosed that the female staff in the clinic confided in him that they have knowledge of the CMO’s antics but are in fear to report him to higher authorities because he is very powerful and valuable to the institution.
As at the time of filing this report, the Federal Road Safety Corps is yet to release a press statement to confirm or debunk the incident.
