Over the years, illiteracy, political naivety, and failure to ensure awareness of citizens have been the major reason behind the various nefarious activities carried out by corrupt politicians with impunity ranging from funds diversion to hoarding of basic social amenities provided by the government for the benefit of the people without any form of resistance.

This is evident in the actions of Hon Jones Onyereri, a former lawmaker representing Nkwerre/Isu/Nwangele/Njaba federal constituency who is alleged to have converted a 500kVA transformer which he nominated as his 2018 constituency project for his community probably considering it as a compensation for his unmeritorious service to his people.

SecretReporters gathered, that the provision and installation of 500KVA transformer project nominated at N5,000, 000 (Five Million Naira) with code 2018ZIP1927 which was awarded to be executed by Anambra, Imo, River Development Authority (AIRBDA) was purported to be granted in the guise of trying to alleviate the sufferings of his people who has been in total blackout for years due to the lack of a functioning transformer.

Following the subsequent fund release for the project and the purchase of the transformer, the crafty Honourable was reported to have kept the transformer within the four walls of his residence with an allegation of plans made afoot to sell off the property to prospective buyers.

More so, it was also gathered the communities under his constituencies who were ignorant of the arrival of the transformer were reported to be struggling with adequate power supply ever since the nomination of the project with several complaints of how they have been in complete darkness from the community members.

It would be recalled that the erstwhile lawmaker recently lost his Senatorial bid to his arch-rival Rochas Okorocha, who was sworn in as his replacement following a ruling by a court directing that the latter be given his certificate of return.
